It is interesting that over the years RMI has done a good job in promoting energy efficiency but has not said a word about the highly inefficient landfilling of 260 million tons of solid waste in the U.S. This is equivalent to transporting over long distances and then burying 260 million barrels of oil. Are we smarter than Denmark, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Japan and Singapore who have moved from landfilling to waste to energy plants?
